Professional Food Photography at The Salty Olive: Leba Pop-Up Arrives in the UK
Client: Leba Restaurant - www.lebarestaurant.com
Location: The Salty Olive, Wokingham - www.salty-olive.co.uk
When the team at Leba Restaurant approached me for their latest menu launch, the goal was clear: they needed visual assets that didn't just document the dishes, but truly captured the vibrant, fresh ingredients and the care put into every plate.
The Challenge: Balancing Atmosphere and Detail
Leba’s home at The Salty Olive has a wonderful, warm, and atmospheric interior. However, as any restaurant owner knows, that beautiful moody lighting that diners love is often the biggest enemy of high-quality food photography. The challenge was to maintain the warm, welcoming "vibe" of the restaurant while ensuring the food itself was perfectly lit, crisp, and colour-accurate.
The Technical Solution
To create a professional, magazine-quality look for their new menu, I utilized my Sony A7V paired with my Tamron 28-74mm f2.8. The key was to bring in a controlled lighting setup that mimicked natural, directional light. By using a softbox placed at a precise angle, I was able to sculpt the textures of the food, bringing out the richness in the sauces and the crispness of the fresh produce, without washing out the warm background ambiance that makes The Salty Olive feel like home.
The Result
The final gallery provided Leba with a cohesive set of images, perfectly formatted for their website, social media, and upcoming local press features. Whether the images are being viewed on a high-res desktop display or a mobile screen, hopefully the details of their new menu really pop.
Elevate Your Menu Photography
Great photography is the first "taste" a potential customer gets of your restaurant. If you are a restaurant owner or business manager in Berkshire, or across the wider region, I would love to help you showcase your next menu launch.
